Running blog written by Josepine Anselin. Here’s how Josephine describes her blog:

X50ISLANDS IS AN ENDURANCE SPORTS BLOG DEDICATED TO SHARING TIPS AND INSPIRATION ON HUMAN-POWERED ENDURANCE JOURNEYS GATHERED FROM ALL CORNERS OF THE WORLD

I first discovered long distance in 2006 when my dad asked me if I wanted to run the Luxembourg marathon with him. Despite really not knowing what I was doing at the time (my longest training run was 12km long and I ate french fries and a burger 10km before the finish line!) I absolutely loved the race and have been hooked to long distance sports events ever since. Over the years I have had the chance to participate in some super fun endurance races and challenges like the running the Marathon des Sables in 2012completing the Bolton Ironman triathlon in 2014 and running and hiking across New Zealand in 2016. I started this blog in 2016 as a way to share my endurance sports experience with you all. I really hope it inspires you to get outside, hit the trails and go long!!

    MY LIFE PHILOSOPHY

My life philosophy can be summed up with the words “Live in motion”. Endurance sport is not just my favourite way to spend my free time, it is my lifestyle. I use running, cycling, swimming and hiking as ways to be more connected to my body, to my thoughts and to nature. Endurance sports also allows me to push myself physically and mentally in order to explore the limits of my own potential. I really believe that you need to push the envelope of your comfort zone in order to progress. This is why I am always looking for the next challenge.

THE PURPOSE OF THE X50ISLANDS BLOG

In 2016, whilst I was running across New Zealand, I decided to set myself a lifetime mission: to cross the world’s 50 largest islands by human powerOver time, this initial idea evolved into the “X50ISLANDS” or “Crossing 50 Islands” project. The goals of this project – and of the blog that came about as a result – are to:

    • Inspire you to dream big and to commit to your goals. Because I truly believe that the best way to progress is by setting yourself challenging goals and then working hard and being dedicated towards achieving them.
    • Encourage you to spend more time outdoors and explore the world under your own steam (the human body is such an incredible and under-used machine!!).
